First Costco Run Of The New Year

It had been a good long while since I had been into Costco.  I had a list and a plan so I was pretty excited to get to go this time around.  It was a bit of a hodge podge as far as what I purchased on this day, but it was all part of “the plan”.

Costco haul!!!

Healthy options

Top of my list was to pick up some dish soap that was on sale.  I had this particular item on my restock list for the year.  I wasn’t out of soap, but I was starting to get low so the timing couldn’t have been better.  When I got there I was happily surprised at the size of the jug and how inexpensive it was, only $6.49 for a 102 ounce bottle of concentrated dishwashing detergent.  That was a pretty big win!

This should last me a good long while

Finally!  I replaced a couple sweaters & a pair of pants

I had a return, a top I had purchased in November and did not like.  I also had a list of items to replace items I had already or planned to purge from my closet.  A pair of pants to replace a faded and well worn pair, a sweater and a zip front hoodie to replace two sweaters I had purged well over a year ago and a top to replace the one I had just returned.

I wanted to get these to put in my pack for hikes & cycling

I think these are a better option to eating candy and candy bars

From my “fun and leisure budget” I picked up some items for my upcoming activities and travel.  I spent a fair bit of time reading the labels and ingredients lists and choosing wisely as these items are processed so I want the cleanest and healthiest products I can find.  I wanted to get the bars to pack for my hikes and cycling adventures as well as to take camping.  The Kirkland brand of the “Kind” bars are a much better choice than candy bars as are the Acai Blueberry chocolates.  I picked up a bag of cashews as well as a twin pack of rolled oats as part of my regular grocery shopping.

Lots of granola in my future! 😋

The Brookside chocolates are delicious with clean ingredients

Worth the money?

While I was there I also took my time to go through the meat department and really take note of what they had as well as the prices of those items.  It helped me to get a good idea of how I want to restock meat in the deep freezer when the time comes.  Do you feel that Costco’s meat department offers better quality for the money?

  1. I definitely think their meat is worth it! I buy organic chicken legs and thighs, and both flank and NY strip steak. Their ribs are good too

  2. We buy the same Brookside chocolates and love them. They are perfect for when you need just a bite of something sweet. Much better than candy bars. I have never been in a Costco so I have no idea on their meat.

  3. I don't have a Costco membership, but I would love that it looks like one stop shopping.

  4. YES on the quality of meat for the price. We only buy our strip steaks from Costco even though its a 3.5 hour drive that we only do a couple times a year we are sure to stock up.

  5. Costco ground beef is awesome. 6 pounds + for $26 in Pennsylvania. St Louis seasoned ribs are very good. When they have fresh Mahi Mahi, I buy it for a "special" dinner. They also have frozen Mahi sometimes and that is delish! My kids (adults) like the Rotiss chicken. The quality is worth it!
    Take care, Bun
