Things That Make Me Feel Rich

After three years in, I feel like I am settling in and really enjoying this phase of my life.  I am happy, I enjoy what I do each day and my heart is full.  I am fulfilled.  In the past three years I can confidently say nothing overly spectacular has happened, but in a way it really has.  I have become my own person and it feels wonderful.

In my daily life I feel rich and empowered.  I find joy and happiness in the simple things that are my world now.  My favorite way to start each new day is with a hot cup of coffee.  Later in the day I fix myself a flavored coffee with cream in it.  I jooze it with my battery powered frother so it has some foam on top and it is my daily indulgence.  I love it!  So good.

I have fur babies and feathered babies that keep me grounded because I still have living beings that I can take care of.  It feeds my soul to nurture and love on them and in return they give me a lot of comfort, quite a few laughs and even eggs!  It doesn’t get much better than farm fresh eggs.  Having pets in my life right now is truly a blessing.

My needs are few.  My wants are even fewer.  I am supremely tickled right now to own a 1997 Nissan pickup and a 2011 Subaru Outback and to get to tinker with them and take care of them.  I don’t need fancy or even new.  Having two vehicles for one driver is a luxury, no doubt about that, and I enjoy it very much.

Each day I enjoy a piece of chocolate - because I can.  The occasional glass of red wine or an ice cold beer is a nice treat to have.  Since I hit the three year mark and I no longer need to be super thrifty I allow myself to buy sparkling water again simply because I enjoy it.

Most importantly I feel rich because I have a very strong faith in God.  I pray, I praise and I thank my Lord daily for all that I am, all that I have and for each day He has chosen to gift me.  In return I work hard to be the best me I can be.  I have a very full life.  I take nothing for granted.  I am blessed beyond measure and because of that I have many riches.  I am happy.  Life is so good and I am rich.

  1. You have worked very hard to get where you are and you deserve it. I'm still working outside the house but my mindset has changed a lot too since 2020. I think focusing on our blessings and joys is a big part of it along with appreciating the small details in every moment.
Last week I had a pretty stressful day at work and I thought of you and your mantra 'no bad days' and it did make me feel better. An unpleasant few hours did not turn in to a bad day. So thank you!!

  2. So happy for you! The end of this month will mark the beginning of my husband's unexpected retirement journey, scary but also exciting. You may not be aware, but you're an inspiration and a promise that it can work out, and I truly thank you for that. You have really made an impression on my life, your blog is more impactful than you know. (Did I miss it along the way that you no longer have Laverne?)

  3. The older I get, the less it takes to make me happy, as far as material things go. Altho you wouldn't know that lately with the $$ I've been spending. ha! But I don't mind putting money and time into my home, which is a huge investment and my source of sanctuary. A nice cold beer after doing sweaty yardwork - nothing better!
