Let's Get Happy!!

I want to encourage you if you happen to be one of those that suffers with Seasonal Effective Disorder (SAD) or is greatly affected by all the ugliness going on in America to seek out joy and get happy.  We need to enjoy ourselves and find reasons to laugh, even when it might feel overwhelming and hopeless at times.

I’ve been putting a lot of focus on really enjoying each day to the best of my ability and, while I am not affected by SAD myself, I do know people who are.  Plus, regardless of which way your politics lean or even if you aren’t all that political the things going on in our country do weigh on anyone who cares and has empathy for their fellow man.  I’m finding that by connecting with my circle as well as plenty of downtime to rest, relax and enjoy my own solo activities I feel rejuvenated and content.

Staying connected and spending time with people we love is one of the best ways to recharge our batteries.  I recommend a lot of laughing.  Doing things we enjoy, even if it is something simple like working a crossword puzzle or reading a good book allow us to concentrate on something else, giving a much needed break from all that is going on in the world around us.  Being grateful helps a lot too.  It is difficult to be sad when you are taking inventory of all your blessings.

Are you making sure you are taking time out to seek joy and happiness?  What are some of the things you enjoy doing?

  1. Yes, I agree! I've been sewing like crazy lately. I don't always enjoy the process, but the satisfaction that comes from a garment that I made with care and attention to details is so worth it. I've also been focused on using up materials that I have instead of buying the latest and greatest fabrics and notions (which is a different habit altogether). :-)

  2. I purposely skip the news on most days. There isn't anything "new" about it. I find that I can affect my own little corner of the world instead of being crushed by the weight of everything bad that we perceive is happening. Bad things have happened literally forever. Better to focus on what I can control, which is my outlook and attitude.

    1. It's the same old, same old and never good. I agree, I control what I can and try not to sweat the rest.
