I find myself
filled with joy and Christmas spirit this year, even more so than in years
past. I sent out my Christmas cards in
the mail yesterday and my list was the longest it has ever been. I was so excited about the holiday that the
day after Thanksgiving I gathered up all the fall décor, put it away, brought
in the Christmas bins and started decorating.
Along with
watching movies and listening to my favorite Christmas music there is baking to
be done and good food to prepare and eat.
Much of it will be shared with neighbors, friends and loved ones. Instead of a load of gifts under the tree this
year it will be a very modest exchange as instead we’ll be taking in many of the
local holiday festivities. I am super
excited about that.
Horsedoover Nite will be making its way back into my
celebrations as a potluck version with friends along with some Christmasey
adult beverages. Irish coffees, Kahlua, hot
spiced wine and perhaps even some eggnog.
I’ve been going out to eat more lately than I have in years, but
spending time with friends is really important, especially this time of year.
My home is warm,
cozy and filled with lights. I treated
myself to a new candle to burn in the evenings and the fireplace is chugging
away on the daily. I have my new job to
help keep me busy and it is adding a new dimension to my life that I truly do
appreciate. Life is good.
I do hope you
are having a glorious Christmas season this year. Feel free to share in the comments what you
find makes you holiday special.
I am just beginning this journey of deciding what I want my holidays to look like without a husband and with family being standoffish. This year I decorated early, got my shopping done early, and now I'm deciding how to spend my free time. It doesn't feel joyous for me, but I may get there eventually. I have been doing crafting, puzzles, walking, little projects around the house. I love how my home feels cozy and inviting. And at work, my co-workers add happiness. (:
ReplyDeleteIf you lived closer I'd drag you along with me on my holiday adventures. ;)
